September 29 | 1:00pm - 3:00pm
The CFFO Provincial Council meets regularly to hear informative speakers, discuss local concerns and develop agricultural policy. All CFFO members are welcome to attend and participate.
PAWS on the Ground
Bruce Kelly, Farm & Food Care Ontario
Bruce Kelly was heavily involved in the coordinated efforts of agricultural organizations to advocate for farmers during the drafting of Ontario’s Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) Act. The Act was passed in 2019, but what does it mean for farmers? What should they know if PAWS were to stop by their farm? Bruce will present Farm & Food Care’s backgrounder on the PAWS Act and answer questions from meeting participants.
Abattoirs - What Does Ontario Need?
Franco Naccarato, Meat & Poultry Ontario
Livestock farmers require processing to bring animals to market and are directly impacted by limitations and disruptions in this sector. How can CFFO support growth for livestock farming through a stronger provincially inspected processing sector? Franco Naccarato will join us to share observations from Meat & Poultry Ontario about some of the gaps in the sector and a vision of how we can work towards growing the sector together.
Current Issues in Agriculture:
CFFO members are invited to bring items of concern from their regions.
