Dear Minister Trevor Jones,

On behalf of the Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO), I would like to extend my warmest congratulations on your reappointment to the Cabinet, in a new role as Minister of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness. We are confident that in your role as Minister you will work to support Ontario’s farmers, processors, and all those who contribute to our successful agrifood system.

The Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario develops and advocates for social, economic and environmental policy that will benefit the agricultural sector based on Christian stewardship principles. We seek policies that support our farmer members as successful and responsible entrepreneurs. Key issues of importance to CFFO members include:

• Protecting productive farmland across the province.
• Increasing access to food-animal veterinary care.
• A well-functioning food processing industry, especially abattoirs.
• Attracting skilled labour to agriculture and agri-businesses.
• Increasing opportunities for inter-provincial trade and new international trading partners.
• Support for Ontario production that meets local market opportunities.
• Incentivizing sustainable farming practices, like cover crops.
• Keeping costs low for food producers.

The CFFO believes that the agriculture and agri-food sector can be a cornerstone of the province’s economy. We would like to request a meeting to discuss the long-term sustainability needs of our industry with you.
